Relax by the pool!

Villa Calderona is a traditional Valencian villa built in the 1970s. Work has recently been carried out to create an additional five comfortable en-suite bedrooms. Here you can enjoy peace and tranquility - take some time to appreciate the local countryside, flora & fauna.

Located on the top of a small hill there are wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. South to the Sierra Calderona and north to the Sierra Espadan - both of which are protected natural parks. East is out to sea, which also provides welcome cooling sea breezes. From the terrace you can see out over orange groves to the villages and hills in the distance. During March and April the heady aroma of the sweet orange blossom fills the air - hence the name of this coastline, Costa Azahar means orange blossom coast.

Guest Rooms

Each of the guest rooms is slightly different and all are designed to be either twin or double rooms - singles are most welcome too! Each has its own en-suite shower room and all are equipped with tea & coffee making facilities. Heating and cosy duvets are provided for the cooler nights. The majority of the furniture and furnishings in our rooms are locally made within the Valencian Community. The rooms open out onto the terrace overlooking the pool and garden. Please see more information about the Guest Rooms.

Please note the house is non-smoking.

The Swimming Pool and Gardens

The house is set in a hillside garden of more than three quarters of an acre, which is gradually being restored, and there is a pool where you can cool off. Red squirrels are often seen playing in the pine trees and sometimes an eagle can be spotted circling overhead on the thermals. There is access to a communal sports area with tennis, football, fronton and basketball courts. In July and August a small bar, opens and things can get very lively during the second week of August when the local area has its own little fiesta - don't expect to sleep much that week!

There is secure off-road parking - ideal for bikes, motorbikes and quads.

Typical Valencian Villages

Nearby are the villages of Torres-Torres and Algimia de Alfara. Both are typical Valencian villages where people go about their daily routines. Here you will find local bars, banks, bakers, butchers, mini-supermarkets and chemists. There is a reliable bus service between Segorbe and Valencia which serves both villages, taking a picturesque route through many other small 'pueblos'. Algimia is also home to our local railway station on the Segorbe to Sagunto line. From Sagunto there is a frequent service into Valencia city centre and it is also possible to catch the high-speed Alaris and Euromed trains north to Barcelona or south to Alicante and Malaga. From June to early September both villages have very nice open-air swimming pools open to the public and Algimia has recently opened a brand new indoor pool. Both villages have very small local markets and larger markets are available in Segorbe, Sagunto and Vall dÚixo.
